You can, but I don't think you'd be very happy about it.

Are there any good International movers in Florida? Seems like this state grows all the flakes. Anyone know if this is because the laws in Florida are easier on them if they go belly up? As a general rule I will not do any agent work for a fowarder in Florida NO MATTER WHAT!! Am I mis guided?

Joey

Stevens Van Lines
12601 Southfield Freeway D-1
Detroit, MI. 48223
Tele: 313-836-8350

They are agents for Stephens Worldwide. I believe Stephens is HQ somewhere in Michigan.

Hope this helps,
Joey

The issue with Globex (aka Global Express)/Unitrans has been that they are really the same company, although Globex does not exist on paper. The owner of Unitrans, Naava Hazan, has verbally assaulted customers over the phone.

Here's some complaints:
Don't use Unitrans International or their broker, Global Ocean Freight - both out of Miami. We had a nightmare experience with them (as have others that I've since heard from) ranging from increased and add on costs, 5 mth delivery time and damaged items (not worth claiming as the deductible was US$500 per item)
Lou
After having paid my large deposit, my international move packing date (which was very important since a the new owner needed to occupy my house and had a moving truck arriving) started sliding. The container arrived 3 days late, and the "movers" arrived the next day:- consisting of 2 guys with a full truck, no packing materials, and 2 laborers from the local labor exchange.

Needless to say, they were nor equipped or able to pack a large container in 1 day, there was no supervision, and left after I threatened legal action leaving me with a half-packed container sitting in my driveway.

I have contacted the container company and so far is has cost me $1000 to move my other stuff out of the house and get the container moved so that the new owner could take possession of his home.

Also notice that their BBB report, although just over a year old, has 16 compalints already.

hxs88121,

BBB ratings and having a valid FMC license mean nothing. Please, please go with one of the four reputable, tried-and-true international forwarders listed on our International Movers sticky. Since Stevens is in Michigan it would be your logical choice.

United is the largest of the Van Lines. You will find agents for them all over the country.
