Unfortunately, there will always be a company at origin, and a different company at destination.

As such, choosing the right company to start with is super important.

I'm not sure why this is posted under a question about Sterling versus Suddath, both of who are currently financially stable).

Unfortunately, I don't see how to edit my above post.

I would like to add two things:

1 - Get the FMC involved regarding the bill from the company in the US. It is pretty unusual that they would go after you, since you contracted with an overseas agent. They may be willing to negotiate on your behalf.

2 - Get a lawyer involved in the destination country - receivership laws vary and as such, you may still be able to get a judgement showing that the company with whom you contracted still owes the company in the US. I am assuming you now live in the destination country, of course.
