Moving from Chicago Suburbs to Boca Raton Florida.

Postby BoredOne » Wed Apr 17, 2013 8:47 pm

So I'm going to be moving next month down to Florida and I'm having a rough time deciding on a moving company, there are to many variables and a lot of companies have annoying requirements. I'm currently moving pretty much my room. Its a small/mini move. I'll have a computer chair and a few other items with about 15 or so boxes of variable sizes. So it won't be over the 2000lb minimum some companies have.

The one company I'm looking at right now is ShipSmart, I tried looking around for info but right now their looking to be fairly cheap. What do you guys suggest for a mini move? Or what is your thought on ShipSmart?

Try Atlas SmartMove, Mayflower/United Containers also. They should be able to meet your requirements.
For more information on moving or to file a complaint go to http://www.protectyourmove.gov

1..NEVER PAY A MOVER A DEPOSIT FOR INTERSTATE MOVING! IT COULD BE THE START OF THE BIG SCAM
2. GO WITH IN HOME ESTIMATES ONLY.
3. DO NOT USE A BROKER.

BoredOne,
There really isn't enough information on the forums in regards to ShipSmart to tell you one way or the other whether or not they do a good job. You can feel free to see what's been said about them by doing a search of the forums in the search window of the main forums and putting "shipsmart" (with quotes) into the search field. This will bring back any information we have on them, which isn't much.

I've done some deliveries for ShipSmart & the incoming shipments all seem to be well packed/wrapped when I received them. 8)

Call any major van line and ask about their small shipment program.
