The federal Transportation Department has mounted a consumer protection campaign. DOT's provides a guide to moving rights and information on how to research movers and brokers registered with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA).

Do they provide any recourse for when a mover violates those rights?

Nope, not really. They only have 20 investigators for the entire country and only *1* that deals with hostage loads.

You can try to report any moving company, but most likely there's nothing they can do to help.
