LA Moving Companies

Well put BigLee. I am with you. I do not like being used by a customer. It is unethical for a customer to show my estimate to other movers. I have had customer offer me a competitor's quote and I have refused saying it would be unfair to that person who had invested their time to prepare the quote.

The moving industry is in your blood and you will be working for a mover again in the future. You cannot get away from this business. In the interim, best wishes and good luck. We all look f...

LA Moving Companies

It is not too early to get your in-home estimates. Movinghelper mentioned United. Several of the other major van lines will also lock in your price now for an August move if you register the shipment with them within a certain period of time of the in-home survey. That time will vary from 30 to 90 d...

Re: expedited move CA --> FL

If you can live with just a bit longer delivery spread, the price from Allied should come down substantially. They can do your move under the Allied Express program and get you to Florida fairly close to your request of 6-7 days. The other major van lines also have programs for handling smaller move...

Surface Transportation Board Valuation Decision Effective April 2, 2012

Or is it, once again, more paperwork for legitimate movers while the scammers continue to ignore the rules & regulations and still do business? The government seems to love killing trees.

Move with United Global from MD to FL

MM. I think the full name is United Global North American Van Lines. And, depending on which of their solicitation emails you receive, they are affiliated with any one of ten different van lines. Something smells fishy.

If Flat Rate has an office within 50 miles of your origin residence, they are required to come out an do an in-home survey and estimate.

Re: info about houston agents?

I have not been on this site for some time. Lots of work to do and very little time to get online. Hopefully, I have been missed a little bit. For those unaware, I relocated from PA to TX in July 2010 to work in the Houston market as a moving consultant for a little over a year. I was promised warme...

Re: America Van Line from MD (not American Van Lines from FL)

Just go to www.protectyourmove.gov, click on "Search for Moving Companies and View Complaint History" located in the middle of the webpage, then type in their USDOT number and hit enter, click on the company name, scan down the page and their complaint history is there for you and the world to see. ...

Re: America Van Line from MD (not American Van Lines from FL)

Where are you moving? It appears this company has 3 straight trucks. Depending on the size of your shipment and where you are moving, this could present a problem for you. American Van Line had a hostage complaint filed with the FMCSA last year. Most moving companies never have a hostage complaint f...

Re: Cousins USA vs Suddath in Florida. Who to Choose?

Rick is extremely knowledgeable and knows just about everybody in the moving industry. Obviously, I am saying that with my tongue in my cheek; however, in reality, Rick has been around for a long, long, long time. Should there be another "long" in that sentence? He is very knowledgeable of the movin...

Re: FINDING NEW CUSTOMERS

I am willing to give you some idea of what I currently do if that will help Jim. We still spend a fair amount of money on Yellow Pages; however, we are finally starting to take a look at that and make a few changes. Most of my business comes from Internet leads. At this time, I am working with five ...

FINDING NEW CUSTOMERS

If I may, I have some questions for the other moving industry people checking out this Website. I am trying to come up with some new ideas on finding potential consumers during these somewhat difficult times. Has anyone tried some new marketing ideas? What are you doing to find sales opportunities f...

Re: Are Moving.com Quotes Legit?

I get almost all of my potential customers from lead generators like Moving.com. Statistics are now showing that about 70% of consumers looking for a mover start their search online. In my opinion, I would be foolish not to go after that market. However, Rick is correct about checking the credential...

Re: Trying to decide whether to bother with movers

When you do the move yourself, you are giving up two important reasons for using a professional mover, experienced labor and liability on the shipment. By taking away these two factors, you do reduce your price, but at what cost? Of course, remember that a professional mover will usually put several...
