Re: Broadway Express v/s ABF v/s Moovers inc

I'm curious - why would you choose ABF over BE when BE is $100 less than ABF (I'm amazed) and you can also hire the driver to help you load with that $100 you are saving? He will also wrap everything in pads for you - otherwise you have to provide padding if you want protection for your furniture in...

Re: Move + 1 month storage in from Manhattan to Brooklyn - referrals?

MovingScam endorses four companies in the New York City area: All Star, Shea, Joyce (in CT), and Moovers (in NJ). I suggest you start by calling All Star - since they are in Brooklyn - and go from there. Contact info is in the "Companies We Endorse" box.

Re: Broadway Express v/s ABF v/s Moovers inc

How do your quotes compare - Broadway Express vs. U-Pack? I am kind of surprised that BE would in the same ballpark as U-Pack since they normally have a 10-foot minimum in the summer and you have much less than that. Also please post the quote you get from Moovers Inc. Clearly Moovers would be much ...

1. I don't know about the truck, but usually large trucks can double-park for a brief period. You don't have much to move, so my guess is that it would be OK. The driver could always move the truck if asked to do so. 2. I think that all of your things will fit into one ReloCube, but you should call ...

Re: Please advise me on the best way to make my move

Hi - I can't see a driveway that looks very steep in your photos, unless you mean the one behind the For Sale by Owner sign. In your situation I recommend that you call Broadway Express to see whether they can fit you in. They can transport your car in the same van with your household goods, but the...

Re: Interstate move from California(Sunnyvale) to Arizona(Chandler) move

I think both quotes are too low and both companies will find a way to get more money out of you. For example, Lightning says it will wrap things in blankets but "tape is not included." Charging excessively for packing materials is a common way for companies to inflate the charges. You need to search...

Re: **Bad Experience with JK Moving in Northern Virginia

The person who normally updates the Superlist has been a laggard lately. I'll make sure that your experience is recorded there. The ** in front of the topic title here is a sign to that person that there is something in the topic that needs to be moved to the Superlist. :?

Re: My Moving Company Has Violated Our Contract

I stupidly didn't think to have a specific penalty for late delivery written in. I thought the mere guarantee of the delivery date was powerful enough that they wouldn't even think of being late. You don't understand. The carrier doesn't want delivery to be late. They do everything in their power t...

Re: From Buffalo NY to Dublin Ireland

I agree. Although nobody but Noone is an expert here, I think if you go with Rainier you won't pay terribly much more than they have quoted and they will not cheat you, because if they do, MovingScam will "de-endorse" them in a New York minute. :?

Re: From Buffalo NY to Dublin Ireland

So you have one quote of $2900 and one quote for £3000 (about $4500)? That would seem to be a no-brainer. But neither one is guaranteed or based on an on-site survey. If you have to choose one in a hurry, personally I would choose Rainier because they are endorsed by MovingScam and I don't believe t...

She was fine . . . sounded just as terrific as ever.

Don't sign up for anything until Noone replies to you. I've sent him a PM to ask him to comment.

I haven't heard of either of these companies and that worries me.

Re: **2 Days Before Scheduled Move of 20,000 lbs Atlas cancels on us!!! OMG

Too bad Larry isn't available to offer a comment or two. Possibly he was carted off in a straitjacket shortly after his brief conversation with Momdog - another victim of the crazy-making moving season, where people are insanely busy for 3 months out of every year and twiddling their thumbs for the ...

Re: Moving from Houston to Cambridge (MA, not England!)

I had never heard of them, but they are a bona fide United agent with MC #260957. Maybe they are less well known than the other United/Mayflower agents in the area and have an inferiority complex. I couldn't find any reviews of the company but I checked on www.protectyourmove.gov and they have no co...
