Re: United - Rollins Moving & Storage

HAC, Honestly, I have observed over the years that a lot of moving industry occurrences that seem nefarious are actually the result of incompetence or simple "over-busyness." You have a very small shipment and (as others have said) in the summer those are going to get less attention that the larger,...

Re: New York (Manhattan) to Jersey City (Exchange Place) move

Though something I should check out is that they charge 0.25 hours for getting to origin and 0.5 hours for getting back from destination. Is this a standard thing here in NY? I don't know whether that particular formula is standard but it's OK. Never done it before because I always had a car. But i...

Nothing against Ryan or Chris, but I can't believe that people are arguing about something as insignificant as this, when thousands are starving in Somalia and Kenya.

Re: New York (Manhattan) to Jersey City (Exchange Place) move

You're in an area not mover friendly. You said you already talked to Allstar. Perhaps try Dahill. Dahill is a big no no for me. I had a prior long distance moving experience with them - VERY bad. They were late by 6 hours and forged initials and changed the form AFTER I signed it, stating I authori...

Re: Moving from Canandaigua NY to Santa Barbara CA in three weeks.

So far the best deal seems to be Broadway Express, especially considering the positive reviews here. They quoted me $2789 for 12 feet to depart NY on Sunday Aug 14th, with a five-day transit time. I am a little nervous about BE...I spoke with Todd on Monday (this would be nearly a month in advance ...

Re: Armstrong Relocation review

1. The helper being drunk is the only big bad error in this move....but I think these days even drunks are protected by the Americans With Disabilities Act, so maybe that should be considered. @robertlewisca You have to understand that Archie was joking . . . as usual. I'm sure that the driver woul...

Re: **2 Days Before Scheduled Move of 20,000 lbs Atlas cancels on us!!! OMG

Now I think we're going too far in the OTHER direction as far as assigning blame goes. This customer obviously didn't intend to not have a truck available when she wanted it. She simply waited too long to book. We don't know whether her sales rep warned her about that or not, but if he did, he appar...

Re: **2 Days Before Scheduled Move of 20,000 lbs Atlas cancels on us!!! OMG

I just want to add, though, that it wouldn't have mattered whether the sales rep was on vacation or not. (And remember, it was the July 4 weekend.) Even when he came back on July 7, the customer still didn't book the move. There was never a signed contract in this case, even though the estimate was ...

Re: Armstrong Relocation review

Hello Daniel, I'm really sorry that these things happened to your family. But this is the way Armstrong is going to see it: 1. Legally, they can't give you a "refund" to compensate you for damages. They can pay a claim for damages, but they have to wait until an appraiser inspects the pieces, and th...

I'm sorry to hear this. Did you purchase valuation coverage beyond the basic 60 cents/pound?

How do you know that the rug was rolled up and put on the van without a sticker? Is it listed on your inventory sheet?

Re: 2 Days Before Scheduled Move of 20,000 lbs Atlas cancels on us!!!! OMG

The booking (sales) agent is supposed to do an agent pickup at no additional cost to the customer------this is rule number one----to just say sorry is almost as bad as scamming-----it's reprehensible. If there is not more to this story------------they deserted this customer. OK, it turns out that t...

Re: Proud American/MovingCentral - pics of damaged items

PandorasBox, Thank you so much for posting those photos. I agree with Movinghelper - don't take it the wrong way that experts are pointing out why particle board furniture, thin fabric on ottoman bottoms, and plastic totes are vulnerable to being damaged. Like you, I've moved particle board furnitur...

Re: Moving from Houston to Cambridge (MA, not England!)

Hi - in general, the smaller the shipment, the greater the chance of a delayed delivery, so I would say that you are at a bit of a risk. I believe that carriers keep statistics on whether deliveries are delayed beyond the spread, and you could ask for those, but they are only statistics. Do you happ...
