Re: Family Finds Itself In Moving Nightmare

The station manager isn't the right person to contact. You've got to go to the segment producer, assignment editor or assignment desk. Ill look through my database for a name.

Movinghelper is taking the right approach by commenting in the comments section, too.

Re: CONSUMERAFFAIRS.COM

Most of the time, it's either not possible or not ethical to remove bad complaints. Any company that says otherwise is bogus. You can also try to drown it out with good complaints but, of course, they need to be legit, user submitted reviews and that's not easy. The best thing for any company to do ...

Re: Anyone know anything about this moving company - Billy.com?

I very much encourage you to contact actual moving companies to obtain estimates, not an aggregator like Billy.com. You can find good companies on the SuperList here. As an aside to the other movers on this board - have you had experience with Billy.com? Their sales people are downright aggressive. ...

Re: Move from DC to LA - opinions wanted!

Here's a little more on the tax implications of direct billing v. using a lump sum amount to pay yourself. It sounds like your company is trying to work with you regardless of which mover you pick, which is great. Unfortunately, lump sum payments for relocation expenses, including moving, are fully ...

Re: Move from DC to LA - opinions wanted!

If your company has a preferred vendor, why don't they pay that vendor directly instead of giving you the lump sum to pay them yourselves? It doesn't make much sense at all - it's less of a tax issue for you both if they arrange for direct billing. I would ask about it. I wrote an article on lump su...

That's one reason why you can't/shouldn't pay people for a review by any means.

Re: HOW TO SPOT FAKE REVIEWS

I'm uncomfortable with reviews being paid for, whether they are fake or real. That said, I've seen some clever social media campaigns to garner reviews and I think that's fine, as long as it's 1) a campaign with a beginning and end and 2) everyone customer can participate and 3) the reviews are qual...

Ha, well, I agree that you have to fight for what's right! Anyone who swings first, deserves to get punched in the jaw.

Re: Why can't I find a national BBB record for Allied Van Lines?

Surely, there's a time to call a dog a dog, but if you do so, they better be a dog. Glad to see NYCMover doing some research first. The outcome of nastiness is always nastiness - especially online. Some fights are definitely worth fighting, but from the customers perspective I would argue that most ...

There's also a lot of mover activity lately on LinkedIn. I can post links to some of the frequented discussion groups if you are interested.
