Re: New York (Manhattan) to Jersey City (Exchange Place) move

Thanks and no problem at all. I overreacted - I'm a bit of a cranky pants today. :D

Re: New York (Manhattan) to Jersey City (Exchange Place) move

Fair enough - perhaps I misunderstood given the medium we are in.

Honestly, it was an innocent comment. I know a lot of the national van lines are booking up very quickly this summer. I've heard it from colleagues, customers and friends. Thought some more options in the area would be helpful.

Re: New York (Manhattan) to Jersey City (Exchange Place) move

To PaigeHolden, For a "local-ish" move like yours that may not be a fit for some of the national van lines in the area... Not really sure why you would tell a potential customer that?? You're obviously aware that every rep of a van line in this area (just like every other) has local operating autho...

Re: Moving from CT to Texas

Also, national van lines are comprised of independently-owned agents. So, the reviews you see are sum of all those parts. One agent could be amazing, while another agent needs some work. It's a good idea to try and research the name of the actual agent (although, I admit, it can be difficult because...

Re: NEVER go with NY moving & storage corp

I'm so sorry this happened to you - it kills me because there are a lot of good movers in the MD area. For anyone else reading this post - this is a prime example of why you should always book a mover that is local to you at origin. Aside from just having one truck, it just wouldn't be logical for a...

Re: New York (Manhattan) to Jersey City (Exchange Place) move

I try not to give specific mover recommendations, but I can. Moderators, please remove if not appropriate. For a "local-ish" move like yours that may not be a fit for some of the national van lines in the area we would recommend Brownstone Brothers, Rainbow Movers and/or Yorkville Van and Storage. A...

Re: tipping

Tipping for good service is customary, but not required. Our drivers and crews have received such a wide range of tips - anywhere from $5 - hundreds/person - that it's getting harder to put a number on it. So, we say, tip at your discretion for the level of service that you received. The one thing t...

Re: Internet moving scams increasing .

Ugh, I'm so with you on this. People are really getting swayed by the cheap promises. I just had a former colleague of mine turn us (and a few other movers) down because she got a low-ball bid from someone. And she knows me PERSONALLY! I sent her all of our materials on how to avoid a scam and hope ...

Is it just me or does it seem too early for this kind of heat?! Weather has just been nuts this year. Best wishes to everyone in managing it.

East Coast Heat Wave

We are expected to see temperatures crawl into the 100s up and down the East Coast today (isn't it only June?!). Please be a little patient with your movers if they need a break or two and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE have some water for them on hand.

Just a friendly reminder :-)

Re: **Bad Experience with JK Moving in Northern Virginia

I'm sorry you had a bad move GnB2. I hope that you and JK have a meaningful discussion offline. Good for you for posting and good for JK for responding. On a different note, it was nice to see some of the movers respond with some helpful comments too. I think it's good for the industry as a whole. A...

Re: http://www.moverscorp.com/

Now back to your question. If the service provider doesn't publish any license information, the only thing we can do is to check reviews from past customers. When customers call us to place an order we always recommend licensed movers. However, when someone is looking for a low cost providers to lo...

Exactly. That Q&A on the bottom is so staged too - no one asking moving questions asks them that way.
