Re: New York (Manhattan) to Jersey City (Exchange Place) move

Whoops! My apologies. I see Exchange Place now. That's really easy. Take the PATH from WTC and you'll be there in 5-10 minutes. You can pick up a schedule. On the weekends, take the WTC to Newark train and get off at Exchange Place. It's the first stop. Here is the schedule: m Not sure where you liv...

Re: New York (Manhattan) to Jersey City (Exchange Place) move

Yes, it makes sense. On the map it is a little under 6 miles. I just don't want to take a cab and pay $50 or something ridiculous like that. Taking the Path train and then a cab may just take too much time, especially on the weekend, and I don't want the movers to wait if they get there before I do...

Re: Dispute after move

I like the Storage Wars idea! We've had some cool stuff go through our warehouses - it would be fascinating to know origins. My boss has an awesome story about a famous band back in the day. They came to check on their stuff, so she had it pulled down. When they laid everything out, most of the item...

True, but I don't count that. It didn't get into much of the "behind-the-scenes" drama. Could you imagine a whole series dedicated to moving? Oh, the stories...

Re: What is "the Mover's Contract?"

Wow, two lawyers/movers....Lee and Promover..... The truth of the matter, to book a COD shipment these days, at least in my system, you almost need to take a lawyer with you on the sales appointment, as the required paperwork is about the same as you see at a house closing..... Shhhh. Don't give an...

Re: Moving from Queens NY to Houston TX

As you look through the Superlist, you should know that you can call movers outside of the NYC boroughs as well. A lot of movers are on the outskirts because there's more room for the warehouse and trucks. There are good movers in Long Island, which is closest to Queens. Also, North Jersey and Westc...

Re: I got scammed

The "classic scam" comment is the way the movers tried to get me to lose my mind by damaging everything, so I would lose sight of the fraud on the scales. Another aspect of the classic scam is to take everything apart, very slowly, so loading and unloading a four bedroom house takes 12 hours on eac...

Re: Moving from Queens NY to Houston TX

Did all three companies come to your home for an estimate? Campbell's registration status on www.protectyourmove.gov is inactive. Not a good sign as that means that they are either out of service or that their operating authority has been revoked. They also only have 1 truck, which is far from ideal...

Re: New York (Manhattan) to Jersey City (Exchange Place) move

Please note: The driver and crew cannot take you along in the moving truck. Shea's insurance has no provision for paid or unpaid passengers and you are not an employee of the company. Make your own preparations for getting to Jersey City in time to meet the truck for the delivery. Good luck with yo...

Re: "All In One Moving Storage": NJ-->Philadelphia

This is actually a by-the-hour quote. I don't have much stuff. Any thoughts on that? Whether movers charge by weight or by hour is not determined by the amount of stuff that you have - it's determined by whether you are moving within New Jersey, or across state lines. Since you're moving from North...
