Re: moving my 81-year old dad's furniture from IL to CO in November

I'v been to Shur Ways warehouse a few times for weighings, and i can say the warehouse, trucks and offices are very clean The employees i came in contact with were clean cut, in uniform, and professional. They seem to be a well run independent company. I would give them a call and explain your situa...

Never had any problems moving them in the heat. If your loading the container completly full, load the media equiptment in the center, that way they will be insulated by the other items, and it will not get as hot. If the container is loaded solid, the only heat issues will be by the walls and roof.

Go to your local moving co. and buy the ctns off them. Mattress ctns would be awfull expensive to ship.

38 in Trukee Tuesday night. During the day you should be good, and just watch the weather channel for the days you'll be traveling, never tried 287,but will consider it.

Re: Rough idea of time and cost to Move from Philadelphia to Southern CA?

No crate needed, move dlp's all the time not crated (accounts will not pay for crating of dlp's). I pad wrap the tv, then take two flat mirror ctns and put against the screen, then shrinkwrap. Never had any problems moving them this way. I just moved a mitsubishi 73 inch dlp about a month ago(a litt...

Re: A snowy winter and shuttles

Thanks John, you would not beleive how many times the shipper would say just plow thru it, what they don't realize it freezes and turns into solid ice, which tears up belly boxes, there latches, and any plastic skirts on the tractor. Also they don't realize how narrow the roads are to park a 75 foot...

Re: I could not find any info re. New World Van Lines

They are a large independent moving company with at least 10 locations. The same crew packs, loads, and delivers. There equipment and warehouses are very clean and organized. The crews that i have met were always clean cut, in uniform, and knew what they were doing. I put a few shipments in there wa...

Re: Tips/Suggestions regarding Uncrating/assembly of furnitures on destinat

Who packed the glass and mirror, and was it put in a wood crate or mirror carton? The way i understand it is the origin crew took it apart and packed it. If i was your origin driver i would have explained that it needed to come apart and the glass and mirror would need to be packed and there would b...

Music Mom I'm impressed. Another alternative is go to a carpet store and get a rug tube, cut to length of the rods and tape the ends.

Re: Abbeywood movers, Toronto

My legs are still talking about that painting. Just kidding. It wasn't as bad as it sounds, just making the turns at every landing, and i had my other guys willing to meet half way up if i needed them. While carrying up the stairwell, all i was thinking about is all the people and firemen in the sta...

Re: moving in rain

I agree with Bill, switch it if you can. Rain or snow makes it go slower, so expect to pay more if your paying by the hour. If its a downpour i will not risk the safty of my crew or myself and would stop loading, and go work in the house taking items apart, padding, bring second floor items to first...
