Moving out of house - Need storage

Hey, I'm trying to get some insight on the pluses and minuses of everything that goes into moving when you don't have a new place to live yet. We sold our house in order to make it easier for us to get into a new one, but the new perfect home hasn't arrived yet. I have been debating all kinds of thi...

Review

We have recently completed our move from New York to St. Louis using Delancey Street Movers, it has taken me a while to write my review because of the lack of internet access that I now have. We chose Delancey because of the kind people on this message board who pointed me in their direction, and al...

Re: First time mover from NYC to St. Louis

Okay, It looks like we'll be using Delancey Street Movers, mainly just based on the reviews and recommendations of you guys. But I do have one more quick question about them. I have a good estimate from them ...VERY competitive, I didn't love the guys who came so much just because it seemed like the...

Re: First time mover from NYC to St. Louis

It seems true that BE or upack will be way too much of a hassle especially because paying for movers in and out of the apartments and truck - it'll wont' be all that much cheaper than a full service mover...however Moovers when I called had no dates that I could fit into their schedule coming back f...

Re: First time mover from NYC to St. Louis

I called up Moovers Inc, From them I got an estimate - but no not to exceed price - mainly because they dont' come to NY is my guess. They're estimate was MUCH lower than what I'd heard - but I also had to estimate boxes on my own and it's extremely possible that I underestimated by a lot. I've deci...

Re: First time mover from NYC to St. Louis

It does seem like I'll be saving a bit of cash going with BE and hiring a company to move my apartment into the truck - what I'm unclear on is the logistics of how that all will work out. Let's say I call Shea - and I tell them that I'd like them to move my apartment to a BE truck - do I go with the...

Re: First time mover from NYC to St. Louis

I actually already have estimates from all three companies. United's Non-bonding estimate was $3798.39 which included a shuttle fee for the Nassau Moving and storage company truck to transport the stuff over to the United truck, and 210 of insurance. Their not to exceed total was 4178.23 - 110% of t...

First time mover from NYC to St. Louis

I am moving in a few weeks from NY city to St. Louis and thought I'd ask for a few suggested movers. I've had three already come in for extremely expensive estimates....I guess I'll just have to be prepared for the next people. The three companies who have come in are 1) United Van Lines (who work t...
