Re: Cause for concern? Haven't heard about our loading
Just to continue updating everyone on the move... The movers picked things up on Friday. Although our requested delivery date was Wednesday, and the possible delivery days extended out beyond that, the crew asked if it would be possible for them to deliver on Tuesday. We told them that our closing w...

Re: Tipping Your Loaders/Full-Service Movers
I wish it were easier to figure out how much to tip in general. I know what's typical in a restaurant and for baggage handling at airports, but beyond that I feel clueless. We had a 2 man crew load our belongings this week. They were here from 10:30 a.m. until around 6:30 p.m. We didn't think the lo...

Re: Cause for concern? Haven't heard about our loading
Loading is over, and all is well.
Two drivers showed up (1 truck) about 10:30 this morning. They finished about 7:30 p.m. (They weren't able to get helpers.) The guys were very contientious and did a great job.
I'm exhausted, and I didn't really even do anything.

Re: Cause for concern? Haven't heard about our loading
Movers got here at 10:30 am. Both guys seem really great.
Although our delivery window _starts_ next Wednesday, they want to drop off on Tuesday which is great for us.
The loading has begun!

Re: Cause for concern? Haven't heard about our loading
Eureka! or Hooray! or whatever I should say to indicate that things seem to be turning around. Around 7:25 local time I ran to McDonald's to get breakfast. While I was gone (15 minutes), my wife fielded 3 phone calls. The first was from the national number saying all was well with our move and expec...

Re: Cause for concern? Haven't heard about our loading
Just to continue the narrative.... I got up this morning and made the first call to the local branch at 7 a.m. It went immediately to their answering system as they are currently closed. I called the national 1-800 number and after following the prompts had to leave a message for them to return my c...

Re: Cause for concern? Haven't heard about our loading
I'm going to bed now. If the driver shows up in the a.m., I'll try to update things in the afternoon. If the driver isn't here in the morning, I may post updated news on what I learn before his arrival. I suppose if I don't post anything by mid-day tomorrow that will be a very good sign. I do promis...

Re: Cause for concern? Haven't heard about our loading
Was he able to provide any assurances that your load is on schedule in his email? Great question. I had to go back and check after reading your message. Although he also answers some other questions in his email, he also says the following: "There is a copy of the digitally signed contract in your ...

Re: Cause for concern? Haven't heard about our loading
Even though it's 10:20 p.m. here (or so) I just called our move consultant again. Again voicemail. I left him a much more strongly worded voicemail asking him to call me as soon as he is able. I previously received an email from the facility's general manager. I sent him an email expressing my conce...

Re: Cause for concern? Haven't heard about our loading
Hi PMueller, Actually the rep did give us his card with his cell number on it. We called that today around 4:30 p.m. when we didn't get an answer at the business line. It went to his voicemail and we left a message. We haven't gotten a reply from him. The load date on the estimate is set up to show ...

Re: Cause for concern? Haven't heard about our loading
Nancy, I edited my message above after you replied. The "contract" I have is actually titled at the top "Binding Estimate." The reference number field is totally empty. There are no other identifying codes on it beyond the normal estimate documentation. It is signed (electronically) by both the agen...

Re: Cause for concern? Haven't heard about our loading
I was sent a totally blank preprinted credit card authorization form. I had to fill in all the information myself before returning it. There is a section at the bottom for the agent to fill out before faxing it in for processing. This area is where the reference and contract number are listed. At th...

Re: Cause for concern? Haven't heard about our loading
Unfortunately the 1-800 number is closed for the day. I would use the online system but it requires a contract number. I was never given this number.
