Re: Anyone with experience with the following movers

I went with Stevens International and they did an AWESOME job moving my items. The boxes arrived in tip-top shape. Long story short; my international move from the US to Amsterdam got cancelled but my items had already shipped. Stevens was tremendous in arranging my items to be turned around at the ...

Re: true cost of shipping car from LA to Italy

Ofcourse, won't you have to take a driving test for your european driver's license?

As far as I know, all driving tests are done in cars with manual transmissions, and if I am not mistaking, international drivers licenses are only valid for 6 months.

Re: I am back in the US

I've been in the US for 10 years now and have gone back on frequent visits. During those visits I couldn't stop thinking of how great Amsterdam was, how charming those little bitty roads and houses are, and how much more relaxed the people are. Yes, it is great only having to work 36 hours a week, a...

Re: I am back in the US

Hehe, thanks everyone.

I guess there is just something to be said for being able to shop walmart at 2 am in the morning :-)

There are a LOT of conveniences here I have grown too accustom too I suppose. Is that weird?

I am back in the US

Hey All, some of you may remember me for some of my posts inquiring about moving companies etc. etc. You see, I was wanting to relocate back to the Netherlands and almost made the mistake of going with one of those scam-back movers. Several people on this message board gave me a lot of very good inf...

Re: Traveling With Your Pet

One of those posts is mine. I love continental. One thing I forgot to tell that really impressed me is this: After I flew back from Amsterdam to Houston with my cat 'Beertje' (dutch for little bear) -- which by the way went as smooth as flying from Houston to amsterdam -- I was told I could pick up ...

Re: My Picks for Buying Moving Supplies Online

I purchased all my items from www.uline.com. They have about every size box imaginable. I was very pleased with these folks. They do have "minimum" amounts of boxes you have to buy. I believe it's 10. But they have a huge collection on boxes, bubblewraps and peanuts. And, one time when my boxes arri...

Re: Flying Pets from Northern Westchester, NY to Las Vegas

I flew with my cat back and forth from Houston TX, to Amsterdam the Netherlands. I also utilized Continental's Pet Safe Program. I was really impressed. Unlike other airlines, they did not have a temperature restriction. I checked my cat in with at Continental's Quick Pack desk, where they took care...

Re: How much to tip the movers? Is this common at all?

Normally speaking; how many movers will show up? Do they come in crews of two, three, four?. It's a relative small move. (about 180 cubic feet).

How much to tip the movers? Is this common at all?

I have a little more than a week to go before the moving company will come by to pick up my items and prepare them for shipping to Europe. Is it common to "tip" the movers? If so, how much would you tip them, and do you tip them each individually, or as a group? I.e. give the tip to the "foreman"? R...

Update on my move to the Netherlands

I figured to give you guys an update on my move. I arrived at this site a couple of weeks ago, totally stressed and confused about my upcoming international move to the Netherlands. I had read so many articles and customer reviews about moving scams, it made my head spin! I was about to lay down a b...

international moves and cubic feet

I read various articles that warn you to avoid movers that base their quotes on cubic feet; however I talked to a few reputable movers, and all of their quotes did factor in the cubic feet.

So, how does this work on international moves?

A you sure? I spoke with some of the "reputable" movers, and even they require a small deposit.

Re: US to Australia

Tell me about it. I am looking for an international mover myself (US -> NL) and its extremely difficult picking out the good ones.

I haven't been this stressed in quite some time. I am just very thankful for having found this site. When are you moving?
