Re: Colonial Van Lines Relocation-FL BEWARE!

Sorry to hear that you had such a bad time. This post should actually have been in the report a scam section because you got scammed. My red flag would have flapped in the wind when I saw that your move had been what we call in the business "farmed out." Who contacted Alvarez Movers? Are you saying ...

Hi Tim. How are you? I think of you often, and I can never forget the kindness that you showed to me almost 20 years ago when my computer crashed. I have enjoyed the 16 years of working with movingscam.com. Like yourself, I have not spent as much time as I would have liked, since I was ushered out o...

Re: Interested in opinion about Angie's list

I agree with the pros here. I wouldn't book a move with Angie's List. It isn't the same as looking for a plumber, and they can recommend a licensed plumber. I had to get on Facebook for allowing a company locally here in California to advertise on their platform, and this company never bothered to p...

Hey there NYC Mover... How are you? I do agree that if an estimator cannot do an in-home survey, and he/she and the shipper can do a remote video survey, there should be no reason that it wouldn't work. Items that need special attention can be viewed by the estimator and shared with the third-party ...

Hey Bill.. How are you? I don't get on much since I have retired in 2015. You bring up some good points, especially with the new technology that was not available 10 years or so ago. I like where you say you could use AI to do calculations. A friend of mine who said he couldn't get to every survey u...

Re: National Relocation Van Lines

Since your move is technically still in progress, you should contact the lawyers at this site. www.moverescue.com This is a department that was established by Unigroup [Parent Company of United Van Lines & Mayflower Transit. It was established to assist people being scammed by unscrupulous movers, r...

Re: Interested in opinion about Angie's list

If this potential consumer is in the Atlanta area, there are quite a few established and licensed moving companies, including my friend Archie White who owns AC Transfer, which is United Van Lines. He and I have worked together since 2003, when we both joined the movingscam panel. He is a man of int...

Re: Claims Processing Center in Staten Island

I guess my first question would be whose claim processing center? It has to be affiliated with someone else that is hiring them to process claims. Your statement that they give you $5 for something that costs $500 to repair/replace, but you did not indicate the type of valuation you purchased, or wh...

Re: Interested in opinion about Angie's list

I don't know if you have chosen a mover yet... Though I have been a contributor for 16 years, since I have retired I am not here as much. I don't know if you have selected a mover yet, but if you have not, DISCARD any estimate who wants to charge by the cubic foot. Your estimate may sound 2000 cubic...

Re: Yuma Arizona to Roanoke Virginia - Please help

Hello there. You said your wife's company is paying for the move. Did they give her a budget or a flat amount for her to handle? If they are paying, stay away from these brokers. Your chances are infinitely more than if you used a reputable van line or independent mover with THEIR OWN hauling author...

Re: Companies for Austin, TX to Seattle, WA move

Both of these companies are great companies to work with. Have each come out and do a visual survey and give you a binding, not to exceed estimate. Both companies have their own hauling fleets, so unless your shipment is going into storage at the destination, your chances of getting a door to door m...

Re: "You-load, We-move" search and sizing questions

ABF is a freight carrier, so you will be moving on a 27-foot freight trailer. When they first got into the U pack business, they were strictly using spring ride trailers. As the business grew, they switched to air ride trailers, which resulted in a much better ride with less damage. If your move is ...

Re: How to measure the truck

I know this is an old post, but in my experience, I have found that the crooks that charge by the cubic foot instead of by weight habitually do not load the truck tight. They may load 80% of the goods maybe 2 tiers and then when they get to the target cube they want to charge, they will suddenly go ...

Re: COLORADO TO CALIFORNIA - Atlantic VS Golden

I think you meant Colorado for the Longmont location. I have lived in California since 1946, and there is no Longmont, CA.

To Noone, how are you? I haven't been on in a while. I looked up Golden Van Lines, and it appears they are also Atlas Agents.
