Re: I feel like I'm getting ripped off by Sterling International

Yes - it was $1710 but it was in April, when I first started looking for a shipping company. They could easily say that prices went up since then (right?).

Re: I feel like I'm getting ripped off by Sterling International

Thank you for your response. For point 1, I understand that but one of the reasons I picked Sterling International was that they had a low minimum (100 cft according to them). For point 2, again, they had told me that the minimum was 100 cft (i.e. shipping 50 cft is the same as 100 cft, but above th...

I feel like I'm getting ripped off by Sterling International

SI did an in-home survey and estimated 200 cft. Their quote for 200 cft at that time was $2570. The other companies that did surveys had lower estimates for my shipment, so I asked SI to send me a quote for 150 cft and the cost for that was $2070. They picked up my things last week and they had huge...

Re: Sterling International - Did I make a mistake?

Okay that makes me feel better! I just remember reading about it as one of the "warning signs"... I didn't have any furniture, only boxes, but they did seem to pack them well.. On the other hand, they showed up a few hours late, got lost, couldn't find the apartment building, etc.. So overall, I hav...

Sterling International - Did I make a mistake?

I am moving from CT (USA) to the UK and booked Sterling International because of their great reviews. My origin agent was Best Guy moving services. They came today to pack and pick up my things. Two of them were wearing company T-shirts and one was not. I live in an apartment building, so I did not ...

Re: Sterling International vs. Suddath

I'm not crying over $150. And you should check your math. The price difference is $220. Regardless, the insurance for Sterling is twice as expensive, so that further increases the price difference by a few hundred dollars. This is my first time booking a moving company for any kind of move, let alon...

Re: Sterling International vs. Suddath

Thank you, that's very helpful. So do I give the amount I want refunded per week late in the email I send them? If yes, what would a reasonable amount be? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, I just have no frame of reference...

Re: Sterling International vs. Suddath

Thank you so much for your response! I'm leaning towards Sterling because their transit time is 4-6 weeks, whereas it's 8-10 weeks for Suddath.

Is it worth trying to get Sterling to lower their price or is the price non-negotiable?

Re: Sterling International vs. Suddath

I'm leaning towards Sterling International for my move. Is there any room for negotiation in terms of the price (given that the rest of the moving companies I got quotes from gave me lower rates)? Or are the prices usually firm?

Thanks!

Sterling International vs. Suddath

I am trying to compare two quotes from Sterling International and Suddath. I am trying to figure out if there is something the SI includes and Suddath excludes (hence the lower price for the latter). Nothing obvious jumps out at me, so any feedback on this would be appreciated! These rates are for N...

Re: Rainier says they can't do a home survey

I replied to Rainier and they got back to me saying that they would arrange for a viewing with a local agent. She also mentioned in a later email that they hire agents to do the origin services (see below) Hi Natalie, I sent the request to Robin at Shepards alerady, but will give her your email addr...
