Re: BUY MOVING BOXES FROM MOVINGSCAM!

You can get packs of moving boxes from Sams Club for $10.28 for 12. They are good sturdy boxes. I moved from Colorado to Florida with 230 boxes, most of them from Sams. They were sturdy and held up well. Their bubble wrap is around $12 for a 175 foot roll, so I was able to use it liberally to wrap m...

Re: Box Packing Tips

It may be too late for you, but the least expensive boxes can be found at SAMS CLUB. I moved earlier this year and packed over 200 boxes myself. SAMS has packs of 12 moving boxes for $10.28 and they are around medium size. They were also the cheapest at bubble wrap, with boxes of 175 Ft rolls for ar...

Re: CO to FL - United seems best?

Sorry for the delay in reporting the final move but here it is. Everything went very well. Our final cost, with insurance, was $5800. We received $400 back from United since we were under the estimated weight of 13,000 lbs by around 800 lbs. I had 230 boxes that I packed myself. There were some nick...

Re: DC -> SF - comparing two big names

Colorado Springs is A LOT more crowded than it used to be and we don't seem to get as much snow as we used to. I can't complain, though, it was in the 70s today. Moved here from Washington DC, now going back to the heat and bigger bass.

Re: DC -> SF - comparing two big names

My shipment with United is 13,300 lbs and they told me I would have the same driver and truck at both origin and destination. The estimator told me they need to try harder for the business during the winter months. It is a GNTE estimate. My story is on another thread in this forum title "CO to FL - ...

Re: The Packaging Store - Any Feedback

I have not found a source for shrink wrap that is significantly less, but there is some variance that makes shopping around worthwhile.

Re: DC -> SF - comparing two big names

FYI ...I am moving from Colorado to Florida next month. My origin and destination zones also indicate 64% for the discount. My local agent for United Van Lines gave me an addition 4%, for a total discount of 68%, because it is winter and business is slow.

Re: Traveling With Your Pet

I will be moving next month with 3 large dogs, 4 cats and my 2-year old grandson. This gets pretty expensive with the pet deposits and even some pet-friendly hotels won't accept this many pets. I thought I would share my solution for what it's worth ... We will be staying at KOA campgrounds. Most of...

Re: The Packaging Store - Any Feedback

I am moving next month and have been doing a lot of shopping around for packing materials. I have found that no one place is best. For medium size boxes and bubble wrap, the cheapest is Sams Club. 22"x14"x12" boxes, rated for 65 lbs, are $14 for a pack of 12. 175 foot rolls of bubble wrap (1 ft wide...

Re: CO to FL - United seems best?

I had called BE and spoke with Jess on the estimate. I didn't feel comfortable estimating myself with the online tools since there is so much. I tried that once and came out with MUCH less space than the poundage indicates. Jess stated that 40 ft. would be the safest way to go and I would probably h...

CO to FL - United seems best?

I've been learning from this board for several months. Now that I have estimates, I am seeking feedback on what appears to be my best option. I am moving from Colorado Springs, CO to Lithia, FL (1762 miles) the end of February. We are estimating load on 02/22/05 but await final date from the builder...
