Re: Rental Truck Reviews (Penske and Budget are good)

Here's the scoop on Budget . I've been renting from budget for the better part of a decade as a mover, and up until last year they where great. The trucks where ALMOST as clean as penskes, but a bit cheaper. I have a great relationship with one of the local agents, and things have been great. Howeve...

Re: Question for the professional movers...

Myself and everyone I know was trained on the job. Generally new guys at most places are paired with a more experienced crew, and are told to run boxes and pay attention, then as time passes the other guys teach them a little here and there and they pick things up from watching. I think every guy do...

Re: Discounts

Also make sure you're comparing the same services. a company that will load your goods, then switch it from truck to warehouse to truck 3 times is not the same as someone who will load it, drive it there, and then unload it. They can still do it, and the ICC probably wouldn't notice since they're coming in a car, but it does suggest a disregar...

Re: Pay to have goods stored with moving company or in private storage?

The advantage of using moving company storage is largely liability. Once the goods are out of a moving company's care/custody there is an opportunity for them to claim the damage didn't happen in their custody. So, if you want more bulletproof liability, go with the moving company storage, if you're...

Re: NYC to L.A. ...with a piano

The rule on packed boxes as explained by my insurance agent (I'm a mover) is as such: If the contents of a box are damaged, but the box it's self is not, the the packer's fault. If the contents of the box are damaged, and the box shows damage, it's the mover's fault. Apparently this has been taken t...
