Re: Advice for move from Austin to Orange County, CA?

Absolutely! It was a godsend, and I couldn't believe it happened. Since it's a reputable company, I'm not even worried that it may be too good to be true. :D

Re: Advice for move from Austin to Orange County, CA?

I chickened out and I'm not doing PODS anymore. I called a company just to find out what labor would cost, then got to talking with Stephanie about why I was going the do-it-yourself route, and somehow she managed to address all of my concerns and offer me a desirable price....with storage at origin...

Re: Advice for move from Austin to Orange County, CA?

I've been advised to check the Super List for local movers here in Austin rather than using Moving Staffers to load my POD. There doesn't seem to be anyone with a 'thumbs-up' sign. The company that I would like to contact based on what's been written here does not have contact information listed. I ...

Re: ABF (a moving company?) and MovingStaffers

Ah! Now I finally see why there's all the talk about damage, full-service, and the like. I understand that I am taking on the liability by going this route. Unfortunately, part of the major issue in my last move was loss (as in, things going missing), and as many of my damaged items were never repai...

Re: ABF U-Pack Moving Reviews (159 total - 146 good/5 neutral)

This makes me really uncomfortable. When I was speaking to the MoveBuilders folks the woman told me that ABF + MoveBuilders IS the same as a full service moving company. I was also told that I would be given the names of the moving companies that would do the labor/packing portion, which after readi...

Re: ABF U-Pack Moving Reviews (159 total - 146 good/5 neutral)

I don't even remember what the fee is going to be. I have it written down at home though...I know it's 3 helpers for 2 hours. Maybe around $400? That's only a guess. Where should I look for "reputable" movers here in Austin for labor if you don't recommend using Moving Staffers? Obviously, I don't w...

Re: ABF U-Pack Moving Reviews (159 total - 146 good/5 neutral)

They don't provide the name, but they provide separate reviews and quotes for each agency. I suppose the reviews they provide could be fudged. They also state how many miles it is from the address in which they'll be providing the service (my house) and city name....I'm sure it's private so that cus...

Re: ABF U-Pack Moving Reviews (159 total - 146 good/5 neutral)

Thanks for the clarity! I was definitely confused. I'm actually still using MovingStaffers with Pods. I chose the company that had the most reviews, so hopefully, the labor will be somewhat experienced. I'm crossing my fingers. In my earlier post about same-day drop-off and delivery of delivery bein...

Re: ABF U-Pack Moving Reviews (159 total - 146 good/5 neutral)

Thanks for the info. Either way, my point is that I'm NOT going with ABF since they are unable to schedule a drop off of the trailer and then pick up later that same day.

Re: ABF U-Pack Moving Reviews (159 total - 146 good/5 neutral)

The movers are through MovingStaffers.com, and so I don't think they're considered contractors.

But what point are you getting at? I'm confused.

Re: Advice for move from Austin to Orange County, CA?

As an update, I attempted to use ABF but had to cancel when, upon further investigation, I found out they could not provide same day drop off and pick up of the trailer. I was disappointed due to all the great things I'd heard about them. I wish I could have paid an extra fee for this service, or th...

Re: ABF U-Pack Moving Reviews (160 total - 147 good/5 neutral)

My experience will ABF may not qualify as a review as I had to cancel my reservation due to circumstances within the company. For Austin TX, you will NOT be able to request same day delivery and pick-up of containers or a trailer. This is a portion of the email I sent to their customer relations dep...

Re: Advice for move from Austin to Orange County, CA?

Thank you so much for all the advice. It looks like a full-service moving company is out of my price range, in part due to the cost of storage for 2 weeks while I'm looking for a place. With Armstrong Relocation, storage would be almost $2000 extra, so that ruled them out as an option for me since I...

Re: Insurance?

Luckily, I now know how insurance works. I wish I did then. This was a year and a half ago. I've already filed a complaint. Legacy no longer has their license....its been yanked since there were more complaints and they received fines they did not pay. I believe they avoided giving my the insurance ...
