Re: Quote Reviews: Moving from NYC to Valencia, Spain

Same to you Big Lee. I am getting over multiple medical issues but surviving. My wife passed away this year so that was hard. I know I retired but I am starting a small agency in AZ again to do pack and hauls between AZ to CA, NV and UT. I am still doing international moving but need to still work t...

Re: Quote Reviews: Moving from NYC to Valencia, Spain

I would ask for a clear breakdown of charges. Here is what to expect on an international move. 1. Origin service to pack and load your container. 2 container drayage from the port to your storage unit and back to the port. 3. Filing the AES, 4 Ocean transport to Valencia, 5, Destination port fees an...

Re: Charming Movers Damaged My House and My Items and Will Not Pay

Here is an idea. Go to the DOT Website www.safersys.org and find the company there and it will show the companies actual insurance company. You get the information and call the insurance company directly and do not go through the company. That will wake them up and respond pretty quickly. I have don...

Re: Has anyone used Top Rate Moving?

This company has multiple complaints on www.protectyourmove.com. This is why everyone should do extensive research when they choose a mover from the internet. There are countless scam movers now on the web. In my personal opinion I believe that over 50 percent of people are being scammed by these co...

Re: Moving lots of books across the country

Here is an idea. If you find the right LTL broker you can ship you books by freight. You have a couple of options. The first is to get a couple of pallets and load only your books onto the pallets. An average pallet can hold about 25 to 30 cartons of books which average 50 lbs per carton. You will n...

Re: Polar Bear Moving Co. - A scam?

First the name Polar Bear Moving does not come up in the www.safersys.org website which is the government website to find all DOT approved carriers. I went to their website and could not find a DOT number which is required by the DOT in all advertising by movers. I did not see an address for their c...

Re: Presto Logistics in Chatsworth CA

When it comes to full value protection the carrier will not be responsible for owner packed cartons unless the carton is damaged or dropped or crushed while in possession of the carrier. If there is no damage to the carton then the carrier would not cover this damage. Your furniture is covered thoug...

Re: Andy's Transfer and Storage

I went to their website and they are an agent for North American Van Lines. As for their authority not being active I would guess that most of the major carriers require that their agents cancel their authority and work strictly under the carriers authority they represent. Of course I am only trying...

Re: Presto Logistics in Chatsworth CA

I believe that you always use a mover that charges by the actual weight of your shipment. The use of space it take on the truck almost always ends up with you paying more money. Real movers charge by weight, not cubic feet for domestic moves. Of course international moves are different. As for Prest...

Re: Long Distance Movers (Trico?)

Just a heads up. the DOT number you gave, 2842396 and the MC number both come up as Moving Experts LLC. The address provided on www.safersys.org is a UPS store. I think that says it all. The authority was approved on May 15, 2016. As Jeff says, do more research and make sure you do not give a deposi...

Re: Mover deciding to cancel shipment 16 days after pickup

Without knowing the name of the company I would believe that you have dealt with a scam mover. Unfortunately the likelihood a getting any traction on a breach of contract is ultimately low. If you paid by credit card you can file a dispute with them, but I would do it after you get the shipment in a...

Re: Should I be concerned?

It all depends on the company you are using. If you are having the mover pack and load the container the vast majority of them charged for the origin services on the net weight of the shipment. The same applies to many of the destination countries although many I deal with have a flat rate on delive...
